Imagine my surprise when stopped in front of my local VW dealer and happen to spy the Saab logo still prominently displayed on their sign. And yes, this sign is front and center (or rather, right on the corner), not on some back access road despite the name on the road sign. That’s the huge showroom in the background for the attached Chevy dealer and that corner is their highest visibility, hence the row upon row of high margin pickup trucks parked there.

Is there any legitimate reason this still exists? Or is this just laziness by the dealer? Personally, I don’t have much respect for this particular dealer, so laziness could be the main culprit.

I think I was driving in the middle of nowhere, Maine, and I came across a Saab dealer. No lights where on. This was like a few months ago.

One obvious reason to leave it up is to attract service customers. Granted that’s less and less important all the time, but there are still Saabs out there in need of maintenance and you’d rather bring them in to your shop (at dealership rates) than have them wander off to an independent.

There’s a used car dealer near me that still has a Suzuki sign on the outside.

Kinja'd!!!

It’s quite a depressing sight.

It always seems to be states other than Georgia that have bizarre dealer combos, like a Toyota and Chevy place connected together. I’ve never seen one locally.

It’s possible that Saab owners would only want a dealer working on it. This is a small town, and I would imagine not many independent shops would work on a real Saab.

And again, that’s not some side entrance where the owner might not want to spend the money to change it. Front and center!
